With the growth of the baby, the uterus begins to squeeze the bladder, and, therefore, the pregnant woman has the urge to urinate all the time.
As the uterus gets bigger, it takes up more space and can also squeeze the urine channel. This creates conditions for the urine to stop and favors the appearance of urinary tract infections. It is good that the pregnant woman goes to the bathroom whenever she feels like it and empties her bladder well.
If the pregnant woman complains of abdominal pain or a burning sensation when urinating, it may be a sign of infection. In this case, she should be referred to a health service, even if it is not the day scheduled for her appointment, to talk to the doctor. But there can be urinary tract infections even without the pregnant woman showing symptoms, so it is very important to do the urine test.
The urine test is part of prenatal care, according to the World Health Organization.
